Abstract

 Behlendorf, Brian    The Apache Experience

The Apache Experience

Abstract

Since 1998, the Apache Software Foundation has served as an intersection for programmers, and often the companies who pay their salaries, to collaborate around standards-driven server-side infrastructure software. What drew this group together? How do they make decisions, at both a code level and as an organization? Can it serve as a template for other groups looking for structure around their efforts, looking for ways to encourage corporate involvment? These questions and more will be explored.
