Open standards allow on-the-fly integration of data from different agencies (for example, county infrastructure superimposed on federal environmental sensitivity mapping). Open source code makes quick enhancements and novel customizations possible (for example, n-dimensional spatial databases). This talk will review , open source GIS applications and tools, and some examples of open source GIS infrastructure being used by government. A demonstration of , and on-the-fly using open source technologies will also be available.
