Since leaving academia in 1994, he has worked in a broad range of computer technology areas. These areas include intrusion technology, technology evaluation, new product definition, software conceptual design, software logical design, data modeling, team building, management, collaborative tools and algorithms. Recently he has been appointed Research Professor of Computer Science and serves with the George Washington University's Cyber Security Policy & Research Institute. He is teaching graduate courses at GW, including one this summer on Scientific Databases. He has an awareness of all leading edge information push / pull information technologies. He is aware of all conceptual search and full text indexing technology including those based on statistical analysis and those based on linguistic analysis. He has invented and published a number in deep innovations that use ontology and databases to production new information not present in the data. These inventions include categoricalAbstraction methods, eventChemistry methods, differential ontology methods and ontology lens methods. He is one of the three Founders of the Behavioral Computational Neuroscience Group (1997), a not for profit professional organization that organizes research and policy in the area of ecological physics and bioinformatics. The BCNGroup focus as been in mapping the emergence of innovation using text analysis systems to produce a real time dynamic model of (1) research literatures, (2) PTO database patent disclosures and (3) market needs. This work follows well-known use of stochastic models to map vulnerabilities and threats in cyber space. His interests include educational issues, science and educational policy issues and educational access technology such as distance learning and collaborative knowledge management systems. He has been an articulate speaker in many settings, including policy settings. He is involved in confidential policy discussions regarding the requirements specification of a Federal Biodefense System.
