Abstract
The advancement of open source technologies and techniques cannot progress without proper education of IT staff. In 1999, the non-profit Linux Professional Institute was created to help encourage and develop a uniquely Linux approach to skills certification. Today, LPI has delivered more than 20,000 exams in almost every country in the world. It has become one of the Linux success stories by combining community and professional resources in an organization with a sustainable revenue model and decentralized orgaanization. Its certification program, which stresses high quality and widespread accessibility, has earned the respect of Linux vendors and community alike. This session will describe the LPI distribution-neutral, vendor-neutral approach to Linux training and certification, as well as its affiliate programs in the U.S., Germany, France and other countries. |
